Miniature Plasma Source

Plasma SourceUnder support from DOE Phase I & II Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants, Sterling Scientific, Inc. developed this miniature plasma source in collaboration with the Universities of Wisconsin-Madison and Washington-Seattle.

It operates alone as a high purity plasma source, or it can provide high current emission into a larger background plasma. The detailed design can be tailored for many specific applications, like combining multiple units to form an adjustable large area plasma source.

The following two research journal articles describe the source and its properties:

Precision Fluxmeter for Magnetic Field and Isolated Electric Current Measurements

Analog IntegratorSpecialists in the art of analog electronics are getting harder to find in today's digital world. An example of our electronics design expertise is our Model AI/FA Long Pulse Analog Integrator which measures magnetic field and electric current when used with a variety of magnetic pickup coil sensors.

The modular rack mount system (shown here) is particularly well suited for situations requiring numerous simultaneous measurements, like characterizing time varying magnetic field structures. The integrator will work with most voltage producing sensors, such as accelerometers for velocity and position measurements.

Custom Designed Spectrometers

CCD SpectrometerWe've designed spectrometers ranging from simple, low cost plasma impurity monitors to sophisticated, high frequency bandwidth spectrometers for measuring turbulent plasma flow. Examples of these capabilities can be found in the "Impurities, temperature, and density...." article listed above (applied to the miniature plasma source). Contact us for additional information.
